HDS' mission & Vision statements

HDS' Mission is to provide a diverse and affordable program of quality diagnostic, rehabilitative and supportive services designed to address problems experienced by children and adults who are deaf or hard of hearing and serve as an information and referral source for this population and the general public. The vision of HDS' staff is to be caring professionals serving persons who are deaf or hard of hearing with excellence, dignity and trust.

Sign-A-Thon 2010

would like to thank everyone who showed up for and volunteered at Sign-A-Thon 2010.

It was a GREAT time!!!

Sign-A-Thon 2010 was held on Sunday, May 16, 2010

from noon-3pm at Ross Park Mall.

The Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard-of-Hearing, and Hearing communities enjoyed an afternoon of socializing, entertainment, information tables, children's crafts, and more! Pictures are posted on HDSPittsburgh Facebook page.

American Sign Language (ASL) Classes

Always be willing to learn something new!

Want to learn how to communicate in sign language with your deaf friends, co-workers, patients, clients... at least the basics? Then this is the place to start! We'll give you 10 weeks of the basic signs you'll need to get started to be able to communicate in American Sign Language.

Class maximum tends to be about 10 students, so first come, first serve!

Parent & Child ASL - Thursdays, 6-7pm - Pittsburgh - Starting September 9

ASL 1 - Wednesdays, 10am-12pm - Pittsburgh - Starting September 8
